Do you love singing? Would like the chance to sing at different events? Want to meet new people and make new friends? Want to forget about the stressful job for a few hours? Whatever your reasons, Birmingham’s Voice of the Town Contemporary Choir could be for you!
And… we’re running a FREE taster sessions throughout our new term, which begins on Thursday September 26th. So if you’d like to come along then, please visit the link to our website below and register via the Join Now page. Or alternatively, reply to this ad and please include your own email address in your message.
Our new term will begin on Thursday 26th of September 2013 and will run over 12 consecutive Thursdays until December 12th. All rehearsals begin at 7pm – 9.30pm at Walker Memorial Hall, Ampton Road, Edgbaston, B15 2UJ.
We are open to men and women over the age of 18 who enjoy anything from jazz to gospel to rock and pop (and everything in between). Unlike other choirs, there are no entry auditions and no pressure to understand sheet music or sing solo. We simply want to sing and perform great tunes to people as part of a stylishly fun, friendly and lively singing group.
So fun singing harmonies, meeting new people and performing at events are just part of the VOTT experience you could be enjoying for little more than just £6 per rehearsal after your FREE taster session/workshop! Our terms run over 12 weeks, three times per year with each culminating in an end of term performance.

Voice of the Town is a contemporary adult choir which already has two hugely successful groups in Glasgow and Newcastle, with an Edinburgh starting to make some serious headway too. We perform our own arrangements of songs from a variety of popular styles, often with a twist, style and a whole lot of soul. Founded and directed by Steve Morton (a professional vocalist and pianist for artists such as Martha Reeves & The Vandellas), an exciting song list of soulful voices and rich harmonies lie in store for those who attend one of our shows.
We’ve performed at a range of different events, including features shows as part of The Late Shows in Newcastle, a fantastic new play, The Events, at The Traverse Theatre as part of Edinburgh’s Fringe Festival 2013, and we sang on a charity single recording for Help for Heroes (released July 2013 by Band of Hope). We’ve also performed at fantastic venues such as the iconic Sage Gateshead, an internationally acclaimed music venue based in North East England, and the Tron and Cottier theatres in Glasgow, as well as many more great music spaces.
Furthermore, we have been privileged to lend our voices to such occasions as flashmob marriage proposals, wedding ceremonies attended by celebrity guests, and at various events in conjunction with a host of local and national charities including NSPCC, Diabetes UK, Maggie’s Centre, Heart Research UK, Women’s Aid and the Scottish Cot Death Trust.
